Radha Soami Dayalbagh

Radha Soami & Dayalbagh

Radha Soami which is also RadhaSwami Satsang is a spiritual movement founded in 1861 by Shiv Dayal Singh. It now boasts of more than 2 million followers worldwide. The Dayalbagh has a different sense of teaching and the difference lies in the fact that Sant Sat Guru is chosen by the God and not the people.

Radha Soami Dayalbagh is a spiritual center and a University campus. Nij Dhar concept is prevalent here which means, Primordial Spirit Current which started with the incarnation of Soamiji Maharaj and then has taken various forms in his successors. His successors continued to inspire the masses for the divinity which lies in satsang.

Here in Radha Soami Dayalbagh, meditation and services are held twice in the day with the Shabd, a divine sound which is heard only when one enchants the name of satguru or supreme being. The spiritual masters live on their own earnings and are not dependent on the donations. More importantly, these leaders have donated for charitable causes. There is no class distinction as in priests and further. There are no temples as well, but rather, they have constructed halls at various places where people gather for spiritual purposes. This group even promises salvation within four lives. Salvation leads to supreme abode. In order to free from this bondage, they preach bhakti of Guru and Shabd as important. They are against the common rituals like fasting and idol worship and consider them as unfruitful.

Radha Soami Dayalbagh lies in the extended part of the Mughal state capital, Agra. It is at a distance of 13 kms from the main city center. Even though dayalbagh lies outside the main city, it is a very important tourist attraction. A memorial has been built in the name of Radha Swamiji to commemorate the spiritual leader. The memorial stands as a mixture of cultures, traditions and ethnicity. It stands as coalesce of mosque, temple and gurudwara in its architecture. More people around the world come to Radha Soami Dayalbagh to derive inspirational pleasure out of viewing this structure. The technical college, Training College for Women and Radha Swami Institute are some of the educational institutes of this place.

Radha Soami Dayalbagh has seen a good development, mostly because of the tourist inflow. Good shopping markets have sprung up in this region to attract visitors. Radha Soami Dayalbagh is also famous for its Carpets and rugs.
